The Creative Collective champions innovations in education by showcasing, celebrating and encouraging greater creativity in educational practice.
By partnering with educators, community members and leaders in business, philanthropy and the arts, the vision of The Creative Collective is to create a ‘community of practice’ and conversation of national and international relevance about the power of creativity in inspiring positive learning outcomes for young people.
The Creative Collective was launched on 23 February, 2015 as part of Dusseldorp Forum’s 25th Anniversary celebrations with a theatrical gala performance, which brought together young performers, their educators, community members and a diverse audience to Sydney Theatre Company to showcase the young people’s learning and creativity and the work of their dedicated educators. Hosted in partnership with the Sydney Theatre Company, this two-day event showcased some of NSW’s most innovative creative learning initiatives including Sydney Theatre Company’s School Drama Program , Sydney Story Factory and Beyond Empathy’s 3Moree initiative.
This was followed on 24 February by a full day teacher development program to explore in depth how to utilise more creative learning strategies within the classroom. The program featured expert speakers followed by intensive experiential workshops delivered by School Drama, Sydney Story Factory and Beyond Empathy.
The launch events were a first step in what will be Dusseldorp Forum’s ongoing commitment to creative learning – from investing in meaningful partnerships, making connections, supporting the practice of educators to inspiring continued policy initiatives on this important topic.
