We believe it is time to recognise the 65,000 year history of Australia’s First Peoples in our constitution and we welcome the invitation to walk together towards a better future for us all.

For too long decisions have been made without the input of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples on the laws and policies that affect their lives. The proposed Voice referendum will change this and improve the agency and outcomes of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples for generations to come.

As Federal Minister for Indigenous Australians, Linda Burney summarised, “In 1967 we were counted. Today we seek to be heard”.

Dusseldorp Forum joins an alliance of philanthropic foundations united in our support for Voice and a positive referendum result collectively pledging $17 million to the Yes campaign.

In voting yes to an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Voice, together we can create a more equitable and fairer Australian society and achieve “a fuller expression of Australia’s nationhood”, one that includes the oldest continuous cultures in the world.

It’s time for Australia’s First Peoples to be recognised and have their Voice enshrined in the Constitution.
