Presented at significant sites around Sydney Harbour, Corroboree Sydney offers a unique experience of Indigenous culture. The event is initiated and delivered by Indigenous people to share with the wider community. This collaborative endeavour, involving Sydney’s premier arts and cultural organisations, is an internationally distinctive festival that celebrates Indigenous culture in all its diversity.
Dusseldorp Forum has partnered with Corroboree Sydney to support an exciting and engaging Indigenous education program. In 2014, 34 education resources were developed in conjunction with the NSW Board of Studies Teaching and Educational Standards (BOSTES), providing students, teachers and families the opportunity to explore Indigenous culture and respond creatively.
The resources include subject links to the NSW Syllabus and the Australian Curriculum, and are downloadable from the Corroboree Sydney website. In 2014, the Corroboree Sydney education program reached more than 5,000 children from pre-school to secondary.
In 2015, Corroboree Sydney will be held on 20-29 November. Visit corroboreesydney.com.aufor more information.
“That’s what we’re really aspiring to with Corroboree: to have these amazing big, free, come one, come all events.”
