IndigiGrow
IndigiGrow is a 100% Aboriginal-owned, run, and staffed native plant initiative created in 2018 and includes two not-for-profit native plant nurseries based at La Perouse Public School and Matraville Sports High School in Sydney, NSW. IndigiGrow is a social enterprise arm of First Hand Solutions Aboriginal Corporation. It sustains people, land and culture through the propagation and growing of native plants, including bush foods and the critically endangered Eastern Suburbs Banksia Scrub (ESBS).
IndigiGrow employs 11 local Aboriginal staff including six full-time Aboriginal apprentices. It operates an online shop and has retail and wholesale at both nursery outlets.
IndigiGrow is underpinned by Culture, Connection to Country, and Caring for Country while utilising native plants with objectives to pass down traditional knowledge and stories from elders to our young apprentices that instill a strong cultural foundation and Connection to Country whilst building their resilience and identity and learning to Care for Country.
