Current Partnerships

These are some of the organisations and initiatives we partner with to make positive change together.

Maranguka

Maranguka meaning ‘caring for others’ in local Ngemba language, is a unique expression of self-determination and cultural authority from the Bourke Tribal Council.

Maranguka is a community-led, place-based initiative with a grassroots vision for improving outcomes and creating better coordinated support for families and children through the Bourke Tribal Council’s Safe, Smart Strong strategy.

As the first Justice Reinvestment site in Australia and one of the ten sites under the Federal Government’s Stronger Places, Stronger People, initiative, Maranguka is driving deep collaboration between the Bourke Tribal Council and government and non-government organisations.

Maranguka is supported by a ‘backbone team’ committed to their place, their work and their people. They support the local community working groups and daily check-ins with police and other services which are crucial to the wellbeing and quality of services provided to the people of Bourke.
